Tragedy as body found in river
A MAN'S body has been recovered from a river in Ballymoney.
He was discovered by passers-by at approximately 6pm on Monday July 28. Attempts were made to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead at the scene near the Bravellan Road.
The dead man has been named locally as 41-year-old Samuel McNabb from Stuart Park in the town. Mr McNabb is thought to have been a close friend of Lottie McNaugher who was tragically killed in May when she was knocked from her bike on the Frocess Road just outside Ballymoney.
It is believed that the loss of Ms McNaugher had left Mr McNabb heart broken and he was struggling to come to terms with his loss. The Mayor of Ballymoney Mr John Finlay said he would like to pass on his condolences to the family of Mr McNabb and extend his sadness at the tragic circumstances of his death.
DUP Cllr Ian Stevenson added: "I'm very sad to hear that this has happened. It just goes to show that it's true we just don't know what each day will bring forth."
A postmortem is due to be carried out today and police say their investigations are still ongoing.
