‘Are you serious’

Finvoy Post Office where an attempted armed robbery occurred last week.
TWO armed men who tried to rob Finvoy Post Office last week have failed in their attempt after the brave Post Mistress refused to hand over any cash.
When the men entered the premises around 11:15 am on Wednesday January 6, Post Mistress Mrs Angela Alexander, who has worked at the Post Office for 24 years, thought they were just ordinary customers.
She told the Chronicle: "I was on duty and they came in like ordinary customers. When they pointed the gun at me I never thought about giving them a penny to be honest with you. When they asked for money I said 'are you serious? I asked them again: 'are you serious?.' This went on quite a few times then I said 'are you really serious?' and they said 'yes' and I pressed the alarm and they took off after that."
The two culprits who had been wearing hoodies and scarves to conceal their faces, broke the thick glass of the door with the butt of the gun in frustration as they left empty handed.
Speaking about how she feels in the aftermath of the incident Mrs Alexander said: "I am a bit edgy. I had the police in with me till 12 O'clock on Wednesday night. I'm a bit traumatised to be honest."
A Post Office spokesperson said: "We are giving full assistance to the police as they investigate the incident and would encourage anyone with information to come forward."
A 24 year old man appeared at North Antrim Magistrates Court on Monday, Janaury 11 charged with the armed robbery. Two other men arrested in connection with the incident have been released pending a report to the PPS.
Detectives at Coleraine are investigating the incident and want to hear from anyone who noticed the culprits prior to the attempted robbery or afterwards as they fled from the scene.
