A NEW telephone support service for older and vulnerable people, 'Good Morning Causeway', is officially open!
Local man Liam Beckett aka Black Santa gave his seal of approval at a recent launch in Ballymoney Town to raise awareness of the Good Morning service in the Ballymoney Borough.
Good Morning is a free confidential telephone support service for older people and vulnerable adults. Local people from the Borough can benefit from the service and all you have to do make a referral for your relative, friend or for yourself.
What can Good Morning Causeway do for you?
*You will get a daily telephone call at a time that suits you.
*You can share any concerns or issues and get connected to local services, activities & support.
*Your family will have peace of mind knowing that someone is calling you to check on your wellbeing.
*It can provide support and help enable you to remain independent in your own home.
*It reduces your fear of crime and isolation while alerting others if you are unable to answer your call.
Liam has raised much needed funds for the Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul and Drop In Ministries who as local charities assist local people including older people and vulnerable adults. Liam commented, "Good Morning Causeway is a very worthwhile service to help people in the town and rural Ballymoney to stay in touch and have someone care for them and provide support over the phone. I'm sure the people of Ballymoney will find the service extremely supportive and I would encourage Borough residents to make use of the service and send in referrals to help themselves or their relatives"
Several agencies have been working hard to establish a 'Good Morning' service in Ballymoney and the hard work has now paid off e.g.: West Bann Development Centre; Causeway Volunteer Centre; Supported by Age Concern Causeway; Good Morning Ballycastle; Northern Health & Social Services Trust and Good Morning Northern Ireland Network.
Ballymoney Community Safety Partnership provided financial support to help fund the necessary telephone equipment, telephone support lines and start-up costs.

Commented: "We are delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile service in the Borough. It's amazing to see the difference a simple telephone call can make in improving someone's quality of life and reducing fear of crime."
Referrals can be made by contacting Good Morning Causeway, telephone 028 7055 8005 or Ballymoney Borough Council, Borough Services on 028 2766 0257.
