BALLYMONEY Foodbank have raised over 1,300 and 131 boxes of food at their annual Christmas Collection thanks to the generosity of the Ballymoney Public.
The annual food drive takes place in Tesco Ballymoney over a two day period each December and volunteer Peter Rollins thanked the people of Ballymoney for getting involved. He said: " We would like to thank the Ballymoney public for being so generous during our annual two day collection. "We raised an amazing 1,383.24 and 131 box loads of food that will go towards helping families across Ballymoney. We got everything from biscuits, tinned sweets, cereals and canned food."
The boxes weighed in at almost 800kgs and Peter added: "We also got about 10 boxes of toiletries, hats, scarfs and gloves which aren't included in the weigh-in. We began the campaign for scarfs, hats and gloves, whilst encouraging toiletry donations and it's definitely taking off which is great."
