A BALLYMONEY woman's charitable efforts with Open Door on Main Street were rewarded at a special Gala Awards Dinner in Belfast recently.
Anne Steele was one of 38 'Lidl Local Heroes', inspirational people nominated by shoppers across NI for giving their time and effort for causes close to their heart.
69 year old Anne, who was overall (joint) runner up, told The Chronicle: "I was completely overwhelmed and honoured to have been nominated on behalf of Open Door Ballymoney. We have 20 volunteers and they all work very very hard and I was proud to receive this award on their behalf."
The Award ceremony was the culmination of Lidl's Community Works campaign and took place on board the SS Nomadic.
Anne continued: "There were 38 of us at the dinner and when I listened to what the others did, what I do didn't seem like a lot, they do such amazing work. It was a lovely experience being nominated and people who do this do it for the community, because we care!"
