First attack in 70 years thumbnailDamage sustained to the roof of Garryduff Independent Orange Hall.

A SENIOR local Independent Orangeman has expressed his "disappointment" at the weekend attack on an Orange Hall near Ballymoney which he says was the first in at least 70 years. In describing the attack as "unprovoked and senseless", Bro William Fenton stopped short of calling the incident a "hate crime" saying it was as yet unknown whether it was sectarianism or merely vandals.
Police have confirmed receiving a report of an attack on the hall, situated half way along the main road between Ballymoney and Dunloy.
They urged anyone with information to come forward.
Speaking on behalf of the Grandmaster, Bro William Fenton said: "Garryduff Independent Orange Hall suffered an unprovoked and senseless attack sometime between 9.00am on Saturday January 7 and 9.00am on Sunday January 8. This is really the first such attack on the hall in recent years and must be roundly condemned.
