Let battle commence thumbnailWell known republican Monica Digney will be standing as an independent candidate in the North Antrim Assembly election.

SINN Fein election candidate Philip McGuigan has said that he is standing for "the only republican party is this election" and is "confident" that the electorate will endorse his position on March 2.
The Dunloy man made his remarks as prominent North Antrim republican Monica Digney announced her intention to stand as an independent candidate.
The battle is now on for the republican vote in North Antrim.
Mrs Digney was one of 18 activists who left Sinn Fein last August unhappy at how former MLA Daithi McKay had been treated after his shock resignation.
She had also criticised the co-option of Mr McGuigan as Mr McKay's replacement.
