Local enquiry office to close? thumbnailBallymoney PSNI station.

POLICE have again refused to deny speculation that Ballymoney station's public enquiry desk is earmarked for closure. Their refusal comes as Ballymoney DUP Alderman Finlay has reiterated his claim, first made last August, saying it would be "a hugely regrettable and retrograde step."
PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Alan Todd told The Chronicle that the results of a "review" of "the future planned, effective use of enquiry offices" had been sent to the Policing Board, but refused to be drawn on what those were. Expressing his concern, Alderman Finlay said: "The town of Ballymoney has long been well served by its local police station which was open to the public. Despite the fact that we have a modern station with excellent facilities, I now understand that the station will be closed to the public from 31 March.
“In addition, while officers will continue to operate from the station, these will not be local police.
