Bill Paxtonís Ballymoney roots discovered thumbnailLocal resident Derek Torrens unveils Ballymoney ancestry of award-winning actor Bill Paxton.

RECENTLY deceased American actor Bill Paxton, famous for his roles in iconic Hollywood blockbusters such as 'Aliens' and 'Twister', has been discovered to have ancestors from Ballymoney.
Local man Derek Torrens told us about his interesting discovery of his connection to the local area.
“It started after I discovered a link on the internet about how Bill was related to famous Ulster Scots 'Hero of Texas' General Sam Houston, from the mini series 'Texas Rising'," he said, then adding, "As Sam Houston's father's family was from Ballynure, Co Antrim, I decided to see where his mother's people came from, so I googled Elizabeth Paxton's ancestry."
“I discovered that Bill Paxton's direct descent is from William Paxton (b1739 Ulster)."
From tracing back family trees, Mr Torrens found out that the award-winning Bill Paxton's great, great, great, great grandfather was a Ballymoney man.
