PLANNERS are minded to approve a plan to build a large new discount store at a vacant Ballymoney site that could see up to 50 jobs created before Christmas.
Planners dismissed the points raised by six local objectors who say that the continued existence of retail businesses in the town centre could be threatened if it gets the go ahead.
Back in January a source close to the developer told the Chronicle that they were 'shovel ready' to begin work at the derelict site between Tesco and Castlecroft as soon as permission was granted.
The source expressed the hope that the discount store, the specific identity of which he did not reveal, would be open for the Christmas shopping period.
