A BALLYCASTLE hairdresser has made it through to the L'Oréal Colour Trophy 2017 Grand Final to be held in London this June!
Out of hundreds of initial entries, Benny O'Kane, originally from Rasharkin, now of McGills Hairdressers on Ann Street secured his place as a finalist for the Northern Irish Region.
And keeping it local, Benny's model for the event was 18-year-old Armoy woman Aine McFetridge.
Speaking to the Chronicle the day following the win, it was clear Benny's feet hadn't yet touched the ground!
Benny, who has been in hairdressing for seven years, took over the popular Ballycastle salon nine months ago and has already proven he has prize winning talent.
The 22-year-old said: "McGills hairdressers have been open 80 years, so they've obviously entered these kind of competitions before but unfortunately they've never got this far. This was my first time in this category and Aine's first time modelling for me. We're thrilled! Yes, it's great for me personally but it's brilliant for the business and for Aine as well."
The teams had only 30 minutes to create their fashion inspired, flawless winning look to impress the elite group of judges.
