BALLYMONEY retailers are divided on the eve of a crucial planning vote to approve the building of a 2m discount superstore near Castlecroft in the town.
‘Fantastic' is how one supporter described the proposal, as one prominent objector claimed that a judicial review could be sought if it is approved.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) Causeway Coast and Glen Councillors on the planning committee will listen to last minute representations before deciding whether to accept or reject the planning service recommendation to approve the application.
President of the Ballymoney Chamber of Commerce Mrs Winifred Mellet said: "I support the conclusion of planners that this application will be beneficial, will attract additional customers and result in more inward investment to Ballymoney.
“During last week I was contacted by people who said that they didn't share the sentiments expressed by an objector to the proposal.
“Since then I have attempted to gauge opinion of local businesses and most I have spoken too are supportive of this application."
