Gerard races for cancer thumbnail

DUNLOY man Gerard Doherty ran the Belfast Marathon and raised an incredible total of 1,111 for Cancer Focus Northern Ireland.
He ran the marathon to raise money as his father had the disease and who sadly passed away just over two weeks after Gerard's impressive effort.
Speaking to The Chronicle Gerard said that he would, "do it all over again."
He said: "Running the 26.2 mile Belfast Marathon was the biggest challenge of my life. I considered doing it on Monday May 1 after finding out about my Dad's illness, so therefore I decided to raise money for Cancer Focus NI.
