Special needs pupil refused place

LISLAGAN Primary School has recently settled a claim brought in the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal by the family of a child with Spina Bifida that they had refused to accept as a pupil.
Lislagan was one of three schools were settlements were made, with the others being Wallace High School, Lisburn and St. Brigid's College, Londonderry.
The families concerned had acted with the support of the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI).
The proceedings involved a refusal by the schools to accept a disabled child as a pupil, although the schools had been identified as suitable for the children.
