BALLYMONEY'S Johann Muldoon has made history by becoming the first female in her profession to receive an MBE for her contribution to architecture and business.
Muldoon was among those named in the Queen's Birthday Honours which recognises people who've made achievements in public life, or have committed themselves to serving and helping the community. The managing partner of Moneymore-based Manor Architects, she told The Chronicle she was "overwhelmed" with her latest success.
“To receive an MBE is really quite overwhelming but very welcome," she admitted. "I believe that such recognition will be instrumental in my continued drive to address the huge gender gap in the senior levels of architecture. With only two per cent of senior positions in practices held by women in Northern Ireland, I'm committed to using my experience and passion for architecture to enthuse and inspire more females to fulfil their true potential."
