LITTLE Linkinn Smyth is looking forward to starting nursery in September, which is no mean feat for a child who has endured seven operations in four short years.
Linkinn's mum, Gemma, said she wanted to give something back to those who have helped Linkinn, including the doctors and nurses in the Barbour Ward and Paul Ward at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, supported by the Helping Hand Charity.
A recent fitness fanatic, it seemed natural for Gemma to lean towards what she enjoys best and turn some fun events into fundraising opportunities.
Speaking to the Chronicle Gemma said: "Linkinn's medical conditions were diagnosed at my 20 week scan so we were somewhat prepared for what lay ahead. Doctors told us his left kidney was dilated, but all they could do at that stage was regular scans and monitor the dilation.
“At birth he was diagnosed with vesicoureteric reflux, marked left hydroureteronephrosis and vesacostomy on the bladder.
"He's been on medication since he was born to prevent infections due to the influx on his kidneys.
