LOCAL charity fundraiser Sammy McClements and his dedicated helpers have just begun his by now annual week long charity sit-out for Macmillan Cancer Support at the Diamond on High Street, Ballymoney.
Sammy, a cancer survivor himself, has raised in excess of £5000 for Macmillan this year already and is hoping to have added considerably to that total by Saturday evening.
Speaking to the Chronicle yesterday (Monday) morning just a few hours into his sit-out Sammy said: "Well it's been a good start on this nice bright sunny summer morning, I hope the weather stays like this, yesterday I was panicking.
“I would like to thank Heather, Nicole and Doris for sitting out with me and helping, they are giving up their time this week while they are on holidays, it is much appreciated.
“Macmillan Cancer Support supported me four years ago when I had cancer and every year since then I have tried to give something back. They do a wonderful job and every family is affected by cancer at some point in their lives."
