TYCO BMW has said Dan Kneen 'deserves' the opportunity to ride for them in the big bike classes at this year's Ulster Grand Prix.
The Manx rider, who is a former winner at the 'Prix', put pen to paper after agreeing terms with the Northern Ireland-based team.
Kneen has been drafted into the squad following an injury to Ian Hutchinson, whose recovery continues following his TT accident.
He will be the sole Tyco BMW rider but despite this confidence is high following a successful week at the Isle of Man at the start of the summer. He secured both his fastest lap and a debut podium in the Superstock race behind Hutchinson and Peter Hickman.
“First of all it is nice to be asked to ride for Tyco BMW. Obviously, the opportunity has come up because of Hutchy's injury, so I would like to take this opportunity to wish him all the best with his recovery," said the thirty-year-old. "It's also nice to be given the chance on merit, because of the results I've been getting recently and how I'm riding. Things have been going well for me on BMW machinery, so that in itself should make things easier jumping onto the TAS Racing prepared Tyco BMWs.
