BALLYMONEY'S Michael Dunlop will return to the Ulster Grand Prix this week as the favourite for big bike glory on the Bennetts Suzuki.
It has been four long years since the 27-year-old last took the chequered flag at 'the Prix', with that coming in the Superstock event.
Dunlop got the chance to wrack up some extra miles on the GSX-R1000 at last week's British Superbike round at Thruxton in England.
Team boss Steve Hicken said that despite retiring from the opening race and opting to sit out the second, Dunlop was largely pleased.
“For Michael, Thruxton was all about keeping sharp and keeping up to speed on the bike before the Ulster," explained Hicken. "It was the perfect opportunity for him to spend some more time learning about the bike and developing it before the Ulster comes around."
