THE 37th annual Ballymaconnelly Sons of Conquerors FB parade in Rasharkin passed off largely without incident though unionists have claimed that some protesters were verbally abusive.
There was as usual a strong police presence in the village for the parade which was subject to a number of Parades Commission restrictions.
This included that only a single drumbeat be played by the 25 notified bands passing the protests organised by The Rasharkin Residents Association and the Rasharkin Residents Collective.
Sinn Fein MLA Philip McGuigan said: "Thankfully the parade passed off peacefully but that doesn't disguise the fact that the village of Rasharkin was locked down by the PSNI for most of the evening, disrupting local businesses and the normal routine for local residents in their own village."
