A BALLYMONEY mum and her friends are just back from an epic trek though the Andean mountains of Peru raising thousands of pounds for a charity very close to their hearts.
Hilary-Anne Christie completed the Inca Trail to the famed jungle city of Machu Picchu for Dementia NI with sister in law Diane and two of Diane's work colleagues.
“My mum-in-law is in St James's Nursing Home in Ballymoney and suffers from Dementia," Hilary-Anne explained, "so my sister-in-law and I wanted to do something to raise some money."
“This was my first ever time doing something like this and once we got going the scenery was just amazing, I would do it again tomorrow.
“The Inca Trail is all steps, it was unbelievable and the city itself was just marvellous. It was one of the hidden cities the Spanish never found.
