BALLYMONEY Rugby Club's First XV saw their one hundred per cent winning start to the season come to an end on Saturday as they lost 35-13 to Randalstown.
Ballymoney made just two changes to the team that beat Limavady in the Junior Cup the previous week, with Andy Brown taking the place of Adam Pollock, who was unavailable, with Nathanial Steele coming in for Aaron Brown who picked up a knock in the Under 20s game last Wednesday night.
The visitors started well, gathering the Randalstown kick-off and puttng siege to their try line. A penalty was awarded to Ballymoney and they kicked to the corner but resolute defensive work from Randalstown held out the attack. A second penalty was awarded to Ballymoney and this time James Cleland took the three points to give Ballymoney the lead with five minutes played.
Ballymoney kept play inside the Randalstown half with a kick-through well chased resulting in the Randalstown fullback being pushed into touch.
An attack from the line-out was stopped again by a penalty to Ballymoney. James Cleland added another three points to extend the lead to 0-6.
