SOME motorists are not respecting the new traffic closure order in force on the Dark Hedges stretch of the Bregagh Road according to pictures received by The Chronicle.
Pictures taken by freelance photographer Kevin McAuley last Friday clearly show people parking at as well as driving along the iconic trees.
Social media groups unofficially monitoring the new arrangements have also posted pictures and reports indicating that not everyone is obeying the new rules, though the general impression is that things have improved considerably.
Enforcement of the Traffic Control Order that came into force on October 30 falls to the PSNI, with Chief Inspector Ian Magee saying: "Police are aware of the traffic issues at The Dark Hedges site and we will monitor the area as part of our routine patrols.
“I would advise all motorists to observe traffic signs banning motorists from this area. "If police notice any breach of road signs in the area, advice and warnings will be given to offenders. If the problem persists, the use of fixed penalty notices and possible prosecution will be considered."
