One hit punch leads to fractured skull

A BALLYMONEY teenager, who fractured a man's skull and caused a bleed to his brain as a result of a one hit punch, has pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm.
Ryan Mackie, from the Frosses Road, appeared at North Antrim Magistrates sitting in Coleraine on Monday, November 6.
The court heard how police had received a report from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service after a male had been assaulted outside Tesco in Ballymoney on June 30, this year. The injured party who was taken to the Causeway Hospital and had no recollection of the assault, suffered from a fractured skull and a bleed to the brain.
Mackie had approached his victim in the car park of the store and punched him once, causing the injured party to fall to the ground and hit his head.
The 18-year-old handed himself in to the police station and told them that he had been walking across the car park when he heard someone call his name and something about a hut being burnt.
