A BALLYMONEY woman is recovering at home after she and three others were involved in a horrific kidnapping ordeal in Nigeria.
Alanna Carson 23, had travelled to help with Christian charity Mission for Vision when she and three other aid workers, Ian Squires, Dr David Donovan and Shirley Donovan, all aged 57, were kidnapped by an armed gang on October 13 in Nigeria's Delta region, where they were held for three weeks.
Unfortunately one of the hostages, optometrist Ian Squire from Surrey, who was working for a medical charity in the Niger Delta when taken, was killed.
British and Nigerian authorities successfully negotiated the release of Alanna Carson, David Donovan and Shirley Donovan.
Reports have claimed that a small criminal gang, who recently held a local politician hostage, were behind the attack. The group are yet to take responsibility.
