IT WAS the beginning of a new era at Ballymoney High School on Tuesday December 5 as the school officially opened their new 3.8m Home Economics suite, the Holmes Wing, named after the "First Lady of Ballymoney", the late Mrs Mollie Holmes.
The project provided through the School Enhancement Programme includes a two story standalone building which will facilitate Home Economics, ICT, eight general classrooms and a refurbishment of other rooms within the existing building.
The opening was attended by a range of guests including the Board of Governors Chairman Desmond Fulton, Chief Executive Gavin Boyd and the Chief Executive of the Controlled Schools Support Council Barry Mullholland, as well the Permanent Secretary for Education Derek Baker and North Antrim DUP MLA Mervyn Storey, a former student.
High School Principal Mrs Cynthia Currie said, "This is a very important day in the history of our school.
