OVER 20 elderly residents of Covenanter Flats in Ballymoney have had what they describe as a "miserably difficult" Christmas after their heating system stopped working on Christmas Eve.
Though a contractor attended three times the boiler system wasn't back up and running again until the day after Boxing Day.
Residents say the existing boiler is antiquated and have called for it to be replaced.
Speaking on behalf of residents, retired Reverend Robert Hanna said: "This Christmas for me and all of the residents has been miserably difficult.
“The old unreliable heating system stopped working in the early hours of Christmas Eve, and was not restarted until Boxing Day had passed on Wednesday December 27.
“It is no surprise to residents that the faulty heating system for it was not operating properly before the holiday and notice of this was given to our good manager, but it was not remedied by heating engineers.
“Residents were left to suffer the consequences and had to use electric heaters.
