ELDERLY residents of Covenanter Flats in Ballymoney have received an apology from their landlord after their heating system failed on Christmas Eve and was not fixed for over three days.
Covenanter Residential Association (CRAL) have also revealed to The Chronicle that they intend to install a new heating system at the 27 flat complex.
Last week the paper reported how residents had called for a new system to be installed after experiencing a "miserably difficult" Christmas due to the latest breakdown.
Since then, in a statement to The Chronicle, CRAL apologised to residents for the "inconvenience and discomfort" they experienced.
CRAL Chairman Mr John O'Neill also confirmed that the heating system had been "identified for replacement during the 2018-19 year," expressing the hope, that the work would be carried out "within a matter of months."
This was welcome news for the residents spokesperson, retired Reverend Robert Hanna, who said: "I am glad to hear that we will be getting a new heating system. The current system is not too bad when it is working, but its been breaking down far too often.
