THE Police Ombudsman's Office have decided that their investigation into the tragic death of Dunloy woman Shannon McQuillan, will be a criminal one.
Shannon was killed and her boyfriend Owen McFerran critically injured, when they were struck by a van out the outskirts of Toome, in the early hours Saturday morning, January 21.
Both police and ambulance service personnel had been in contact with the couple shortly before the tragedy and within days the Police Ombudsman announced that they would be investigating.
Last Thursday the Police Ombudsman issued the following statement in relation to the investigation:
"We can confirm that having considered the information we have gathered so far, we have decided that our investigation into the circumstances connected to Shannon's death should be a criminal one."
