McLean backs Arlene thumbnailVice Chair of the North Antrim Young Democrats, Ballymoney DUP activist Timothy McLean. SPB27-22

THE Vice Chair of the North Antrim Young Democrats, Ballymoney man Mr Timothy McLean has come out in support of the party leader Arlene Foster.
Last week DUP party stalwart of some 40 years Alderman John Finlay blasted Mrs Foster in an open letter for attending a GAA final on Sunday.
Timothy McClean, son of Cllr Alan McClean has responded to Alderman Finlay's comments with the following statement.
Mr McLean said: "Arlene Foster has never asked Councillor John Finlay to abandon his conscious or his deeply held beliefs. John is a long established Councillor and his views have always been respected by the Party and its leadership. Reaching out and experiencing different cultures is not being 'dismissive' of the views which John holds. Leadership means taking steps to understand and tolerate those who may not always share your outlook.
“John ought not to view every decision of the leadership as a battle for the hearts and minds of the Party. We all have our role to play in helping to build a Northern Ireland that welcomes and values everyone. Creating an atmosphere where all people can thrive in peace is the surest way to secure our precious Union.
