TRIBUTES have been flowing in for iconic Ballymoney historian Mr Alex Blair who passed away suddenly at his Lisboy Road home, Kilraughts on Saturday.
Described by one of his many friends as "a big man, a private man, a very friendly person" the retired Dalriada teacher wore many hats in the town and wider afield.
He was a writer and lecturer, the confidante and biographer of the late Mollie Holmes, a traveller and raconteur who had decades long associations with Ballymoney Drama Festival and the Ballymoney Agricultural Show.
The Service of Thanksgiving for his life takes place in Kilraughts Presbyterian Church tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11.30am. The house is strictly private.
Friend and Chairman of Ballymoney Drama Festival, Mr Mac Pollock said: "He was a big man in every way, a very private man though he had many public faces; he was a very friendly person, was genuine and had many long-standing friendships. He is not only a loss to history in Ballymoney, but to Northern Ireland and Ireland."
