Home victory for Ballymoney Seconds thumbnailEyes on the ball, as Joanne Thompson attempts to open up a Ballymoney attack down the line.

ON Saturday Ballymoney Seconds played host to Omagh in the league.
Knowing that Omagh had travelled a long way, Ballymoney took advantage of this by putting the Omagh defence under pressure from the starting whistle.
With great linking play between the midfield of Sarah Gardener, Lauren Mullen, Jessica Smyth and Karen Morrison, Ballymoney were rewarded a penalty corner, which saw the toon side go one goal ahead as Laura Jane Kernohan converted a goal.
Omagh were determined not to let this get to them as they started to press against the Ballymoney defence of Claire McLaughlin, Amanda McAleese, Laura Jane Kernohan and Jenny Barr, from which the Omagh side received a penalty corner, but with Heather McClements in goals there was no mistake made in getting the ball cleared. Ballymoney forward line of Joanne Thompson, Emma Patton and Rachel mcCahon fought hard to get the ball into the oppositions circle but they were unfortunate not to score.
Ballymoney received another penalty corner, as Claire McLaughlin gave a good hard push out to Laura Jane to stop, Karen received the slip and slotted the ball neatly into the bottom right hand corner.
The toon girls knew they had to win this game to stay third in the league, this give them the determination to get another goal.
Towards the end of the second half Ballymoney played some great hockey together to create another penalty corner, from which Karen Morrison made no mistake in hitting the back board.
The half time team talk from Amanda and Karen left the Ballymoney girls going out in the second half whistle Ballymoney put pressure on the Omagh side and Katie Mullan was unlucky not to score as she stole the ball off the Omagh defence.
With both sides working hard against each other the two teams were unlucky not to score as they both received penalty corners throughout the second half.
Unfortunately there was to be no more goals despite Ballymoney's best effort but the girls were pleased with the result. The game ended Ballymoney 3,Omagh 0.
The team would like to thank Ruth Sunderland and Alan Macaulay for umpiring and also to the supporters.
