Parke goal seals points for Ballymoney Firsts thumbnailClare Parkhill leads a Ballymoney attack down the line during their Junior League One game with Pegasus on Saturday.

BALLYMONEY travelled to meet Dungannon on Saturday for their latest game in the 2016 Ulster Premier League.
Having already been beaten by the side in the Shield competition earlier this season Ballymoney knew they had a tough match in prospect. From the whistle Ballymoney stepped up and put pressure on the Dungannon defence.
The first 15 minutes saw Ballymoney dominate much of the play; Susie Brown took the ball up the wing but shots from Katherine Minihan and Jan Hamilton were saved by the Dungannon goalie. It was then the turn of Dungannon to put the Ballymoney defence to the test but solid play from Bridget Clelland and Aine Kearney kept things all square.
Following a lull in tempo, Laura McCurdy drove the ball into the circle and was awarded the first short corner of the half. A straight strike from Ruth Sutherland rebounded off the goalie for a fantastic pick up and shot by Nicky Parke that left the half-time score at 1-0.
The second-half saw Ballymoney continue to work tirelessly. Elle Kirgan used her pace on the forward line, creating play up the pitch, while Rachel Minihan and Sarah Jamieson showed skill and determination as play progressed.
Dungannon made a dangerous break 20 minutes in but Jodie Shannon's quick thinking and communication from the back allowed the defenders to organise themselves before Jodie stepped up to kick the shot well out of harm's way.
Emma Heron debuted and worked well with Katharine Gawne to create one last opportunity in the circle, but Katharine Minihan's rebound reverse shot went wide to leave the final score 1-0.
Ballymoney remain unbeaten in the league and look forward to their top of the league clash with Lurgan at home this Saturday. Push back is 2.30pm.
