Seconds secure league win as Thirds lose thumbnailBallymoney’s Lauren Henry competes for possession with a Belfast Harlequins defender during Saturday’s Junior League One match.

BALLYMONEY Second XI hosted league leaders Harlequins on Saturday and recorded a narrow victory over the visitors. The home team expected a tough game against 'Quins as they have been the strongest team in the league so far.
From the off Ballymoney dominated the opposing side's circle, with good possession play and movement being shown by the whole team. And this was rewarded when Emma McElwee scored an excellent goal to give Ballymoney the lead.
Harlequins fought hard to get an equaliser but the Ballymoney defence held strong to finish the first half in front.
‘Quins started the second half determined to level the game, with both sides launching opposing counter attacks.
When the away team scored Ballymoney upped the level of their game and were rewarded for their efforts when Laura Finnerty found the back of the net. Special mention must go to goalkeeper Meghann Doey who pulled off a number of crucial saves to ensure her side took all three points.
Meanwhile, the Third XI hosted Priorians 2nd XI at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre. This promised to be a tough encounter and indeed the visiting team started aggressively, putting the home defence under immediate pressure.
