Firsts knocked out of Irish Cup thumbnailBallymoney captain Laura McCurdy wins possession during Saturday’s Irish Senior Cup game against Pembroke.

BALLYMONEY 1st XI hosted Pembroke Wanderers in the quarter-final of the Irish Senior Cup at the Joey Dunlop Centre on Saturday.
The hosts knew from the push back that this was going to be a tough game against opponents who play in a league above them.
The match started with Ballymoney having to defend a penalty corner after a long ball made it's way from the Pembroke defence.
The penalty corner was cleanly struck just wide outside the left-hand post. A few minutes later another corner was awarded to Pembroke for a foul inside the circle, but good defensive play from Bridget Cleland and goal keeper Jodie Shannon kept it nil-all.
Great inter-linking play from forwards Nikki Parke and Elle Kirgan in the final quarter created an opportunity for a shot on target but was this saved by the Pembroke goalie. Great pressure from forwards Jess Moore and Jan Hamilton won Ballymoney's first corner of the game on the twenty first minute. It was well worked in the D but to Ballymoney's frustration this was not converted.
Pembroke were awarded another penalty corner, this time on the thirty four minute mark, and from this they went a goal up.
