Cleland hat-trick inspires Ballymoney to victory thumbnailBridget Cleland gets the congratulations of captain Laura McCurdy and Jan Hamilton after she scored her first ever hat-trick in senior hockey against Dungannon on Saturday.

BALLYMONEY 1st XI recorded a five-goal victory over league rivals Dungannon on Saturday.
Of the two sides, Ballymoney started much the brighter as they quickly moved the ball around the pitch to put the opposing team under pressure. Defenders Elle Kirgan, Ruth Sutherland and Aine Kearney made several crunch tackles, sending the ball into midfield were Laura McCurdy, Suzannah Brown and Rachel Minihan worked hard to create opportunities alongside the forwards.
This high intensity caught Dungannon off guard and resulted in forward Nicky Parke winning an early short corner for her team. This was well executed with a strike from Ruth Sutherland to hand Ballymoney girls a one-nil lead.
Despite Ballymoney's continued dominance Dungannon managed to win a penalty corner from which the home side conceded to level the scores.
At the other end a Laura McCurdy shot hit the post and a short corner which was deflected.
This fight and determination was finally rewarded with a strike from Bridget Cleland from a short corner.
