Cargin by a whisker

Thursday, 23 February 2017

AFTER a temporary lapse of tenancy, Cargin are back in O'Cahan Cup business after squeezing through their first round tie by the narrowest of margins, 1-11 to 0-13 against Casements.
Cargin began as if they never had been absent and a storming opening phase seemed to have left the Portglenone men for dead.
Michael Mc Cann had the home side off the mark in style as he fielded a superb cross field delivery from his brother Tomas to plant the ball in the back of the net after just a couple of minutes.
The Casement's men seemed stunned by the early concession and although their best player Paddy Kelly did convert from a free, so ferocious were the Cargin attacks that the Portglenone side looked in for a torrid time.
Four further points from Tomas McCann and a great Enda McGrogan effort left it 1-5 to 0-1 in the early stages with the Casements side finding nowhere to hide.
