McGoldrick clear winner of memorial trophy

STEPHEN McGoldrick's forty two point return from his handicap of fifteen saw him take victory in the Gordon Wedlock Memorial Trophy at Rathmore Golf club on Sunday.
Even with a double bogey six on the sixth Stephen had played well enough otherwise to have twenty points on his card after nine.
He eliminated the double bogeys in his back nine, dropping just four shots to bogeys, and slipped in a two on the thirteenth to be back in three over par for twenty two points. That pushed the card along to the winning forty two mark.
Just one behind came Jordan Dunlop with forty one points from his mark of fifteen. Jordan failed to score on the sixth but dropped just three shots to par to end the opening nine with twenty points logged. He was on two over par for the back nine with one hole to go but a nasty six at the death saw Jordan sign up for twenty one back and runner-up it had to be with forty one scored.
Jimmy Magill had the better of three thirty nine pointers to take third place. Playing off twelve Jimmy had seventeen out, a blank on eight not helping him, but he hit form over the inward nine with three bogeys and a birdie four on sixteen combining to give him twenty two back and thirty nine for the eighteen.
Russell Dunlop birdied the second in three and the ninth in two and had twenty one points to show for those efforts after nine.
The three handicapper birdied both par fives in the back nine but dropped three shots as well to add in eighteen back for his total of thirty nine for fourth place.
