Dunlop encouraged by Suzukiís potential thumbnailMichael Dunlop was pleased with the race pace of his Suzuki GSX-R1000.

MICHAEL Dunlop says there are many positives to be taken from the opening round of the British Superbike Championship where he raced Suzuki's new GSX-R1000 competitively for the first time.
Dunlop kicked off his preparations for next month's North West 200 - the first of the 'big three' international roads meetings - at Donington Park on Sunday where he finished race one sixteenth.
Having completed over forty laps during the course of the weekend, the 27-year-old returned home happy with the progress made, but admits there are issues that still need to be addressed.
“This was purely a test for us," explained Dunlop, who followed up his race one result with a top twenty finish in race two. "It was just about getting more miles on the Superbike and working on our base setting. Every time we went out we wanted to improve - it's feeling good. Every time I went out I got quicker. I was quicker than I've ever been here before. We'll keep plugging away."
With the Superstock machine winning and finishing second in the hands of Richard Cooper, he says the priority is all about fine-tuning the Superbike. "Richard is getting there with the 'stock settings, so we are all focussing our efforts on getting the Superbike ready," explained Dunlop.
