Busy week for Springwell runners thumbnail

LAST Thursday almost three hundred runners gathered in scenic Castlewellan Country Park for the first race of this year's Hill and Dale Series hosted by Newcastle AC.
This increasingly popular series consists of a total of eleven races. This first race covered approximately five miles in distance with a 900ft ascent. 2016 winner, William McKee (Mourne Runners) made his intentions for the Series very clear from the off retaining his title in impressive fashion.
He led the 296 strong field home to claim first place in 34.11, with fellow Mourne runners star David McKee taking second place in 34.39.
In an excellent battle for the final podium spot, Newcastle AC's David Hicks too third in 36.11 from club mate David McNeilly who finished in 36.16.
