Late McNaughton point hands Antrim victory thumbnail

FAMILIARITY and contempt are a couple of words which spring to mind in this first round game in the Christy Ring Cup.
Played at Cullen Park, in the eyes of many Carlow folk it was pay back time as the sides met for the third time in 2017.
A draw in the National league in Carlow gave the Saffrons a lot of heart and they were well prepared in their second meeting, the Division 2A decider at Newry were they again did the business. That was an even bigger boost, having failed to beat their Southern opponents for some four years previously.
Then collecting their sixteenth consecutive Ulster Championship title, after a demolition job on Armagh, spirits couldn't have been higher in the Antrim camp as they set sail for Carlow on Saturday morning.
