ON Wednesday June 7, Ballymena Runners hosted their annual Fairhill 5 mile road race with almost 500 athletes taking part. Despite being forced to amend the course due to a recent fire, the event remained a fast two lap race.
For the first two miles, the lead was closely contested between Mark McKinstry (North Belfast Harriers), Keith Shiels (Foyle Valley AC) and Andrew Annett (North Belfast Harriers).
At the half way point, Mark opened a lead of 3-4 seconds from Keith with Andrew a similar distance behind in third.
In the Ladies race, Denise Logue (Ballydrain Harriers) led into the second lap with Kerry Bamber (Ballymena Runners) in second and Karen McLaughlin (Springwell Running Club) battling with Debbie Matchett (Ballydrain Harriers) for the final podium place.
