McEvoy on course for a bright future thumbnail

BALLYCASTLE schoolboy Ollie McEvoy will aim to cap off a meteoric season by becoming one of the youngest ever Irish Junior Open champions.
McEvoy tops the Gary Player leaderboard ahead of the closing round, which reaches its climax at Clandeboye Golf Club in Bangor on Wednesday.
He travels to the County Down venue having just triumphed in the 'Future Star' category at the American Golf Junior Championships in England.
Held over nine holes at Gainsborough Golf Club, the seven-year-old carded an impressive round of forty over to clinch the title by three shots.
He booked his place at the American Golf Junior Championships by winning his regional qualifier back in May at Swords Golf Club down in Dublin.
