BALLYMONEY Firsts built on their winning start to the new Ulster Hockey Premier League campaign with a well-deserved victory over Banbridge.
Throughout the game Ballymoney kept hold of the ball well, created plenty of chances and worked hard to maintain their lead in the closing stages.
In the opening half Ballymoney took control of the game, moving the ball quickly up the pitch, with the forwards and midfielders linking well together. On four minutes Cathryn Knipe picked up the ball on the right hand side before driving into the circle where she found a Banbridge foot. This resulted in a penalty corner, which the girls were unlucky not to convert as the goalkeeper managed to get a touch on the ball and divert it past the post.
Undeterred, Ballymoney continued to put pressure on the opposition with this leading to a second penalty corner which Olivia Mullan tucked away.
