FANS' favourite Glenn Irwin admitted the death of English motorcyclist Daniel Hegarty at the Macau Grand Prix at the weekend was another dark day for the sport.
Hegarty sustained fatal injuries when he crashed into barriers around the street circuit on Saturday leaving organisers with no choice but to red flag the meeting.
He died from his injuries as he was taken by ambulance to hospital. The incident happened at 'Fishermen's Bend' - a famous part of the the 3.8-mile Guia Circuit.
Last year the thirty one-year-old - who was representing Top Gun Honda in the Far East - finished sixteenth on his debut. Following his death, organisers issued a statement saying: "Daniel's family have been contacted, and the committee will ensure every assistance is extended to them. Irwin was later declared the winner.
