Holders through in Morrison Cup

Thursday, 21 December 2017

LEAGUE games were put aside this week to make way for the first round of the Morrison Trophy.
This saw some Division Two teams up against their senior opponents of Division One.
However, there were no upsets and round two sees only one Division Two team, Garvagh and District, go into the draw.
St. Mary's hosted Castlerock and the home team were comfortable winners.
It started well for Castlerock with Victor Callaghan (Castlerock) beating David Gaile (St. Mary's).
Stephen Ferris brought St. Mary's back into the game with a five shots win against Ronnie Steele (Castlerock).
Both Declan McCann and Kevin McNamee (St. Mary's) had wins against Brian Wilson and Jackie Hutchinson (Castlerock) to seal the game.
With home advantage, Moneydig had a feeling that they might see off near neighbours 2nd. Kilrea but it was not to be.
Trevor Workman (Moneydig) won his game with Megan Wilson (Kilrea) but then Nicky McCaw (KIlrea) beat Brian McFetridge (Moneydig) to leave the match in the balance.
