IN their latest league fixture, Ballymoney's First XV made the short trip across the mountain to Limavady.
Following the inclement weather leading up to the game, it was doubtful if the fixture would be fulfilled.
However, an early morning pitch inspection by the Limavady's ground staff deemed the pitch playable.
Ballymoney were decimated with injuries with no fewer than seven players from the previous week not available for selection, therefore giving back rowers Lewis Wray and Garvin Bellingham their first league start of the season. Jason Taggart took his place on the bench alongside debutant, Johnny McAleese. Rory Strang returned at No.10, replacing the injured Martin Irwin with Aaron Brown returning to the wing.
Ballymoney were first on the scoresheet with a penalty from Cleland after seven minutes after the hosts were penalised for going off their feet at a ruck. Limavady pressed deep into Ballymoney's '22' but the defence held out strong. However, Garvin Bellingham injured his shoulder in the tackle meaning he could play no further part in the game, with Taggart having to come off the bench much earlier than expected.
