Dalriada book place in next round of Schools’ Cup thumbnailDalriada captain Curtis Pollock celebrates after his side’s win against Dromore.

DALRIADA were convincing winners against Dromore High School on Saturday as they made it safely through to the next round of the Schools' Cup.
Having spent many years dominating the High Schools' competition, Dromore were hoping to add to their second round victory against Foyle College.
As supporters from both schools started to flood into Dromore Rugby Club, the toss was made and Dalriada took the decision to kick-off. Dalriada's fly half Paddy Carson got the game underway and in the opening period it was slow to gather any momentum due mainly to a mixture of the cold conditions and nerves, which forced a number of mistakes from both sides.
As the game progressed Dalriada started to gather impetus in attack and as they went through the phases prop William Allen threw a long pass to set up winger Peter Wright who used his pace to score in the corner. Kicker Matthew Kennedy was unable curl the conversion meaning it stayed 5-0.
Soon the visitors were able to add to their lead as Dromore were penalised for offside at a ruck and captain Curtis Pollock decided to go for the posts. Hooker James McCormick had the responsibility of adding the extra points and with an excellent kick made it 8-0.
